Non Surgical Procedures


In some patients, the following procedures are sufficient to treat gum disease.


Simple Cleaning

This involves removing the tartar build-up and other hard deposits above the gums that are difficult to remove at home.


Scaling and Root Planing- SRP

This is also called as deep-cleaning. It is done using local anesthetic and the calculus (harder deposits) is removed from below the gums. The roots are also smoothed and planned.


Gum disease in Pregnancy

This is called as pregnancy gingivitis which occurs due to hormonal changes. 50%-70% of women develop gingivitis sometime during their pregnancy.

Consult Us if your gums become:

  1. Red
  2. Bleed easily while brushing
  3. Swollen

DO NOT skip regular cleaning appointments because you are pregnant. At this time professional dental cleanings is particularly important.


Polishing and Flossing

Dental floss, floss threaders, inter-dental brushes, waterjets are used to clean the spaces between the teeth.
If the contact areas are not cleaned properly, it can lead to cavities.

During your office visit we will explain you the correct brushing technique to develop a good home care.
